何だか奥深そうな言葉『passive aggressive』🤔🤔
This is so annoying. Remember my insurance was recently renewed. I got a PDF version of the renewed insurance document but I was supposed to receive the real paper one by mail. I asked Ms. XX to send it to our address but she sent it to the office. Since I am working from home, I am not gonna go to the office just to pick up that insurance document. She said "If you need it, Ms. Z has it so please pick it up at her office." in a passives-aggressive way. She sounds like "Oh unlike you we are working at the office. So why don't you go there to pick up your document?"
と、旦那様がボヤいておりましたが、彼のボヤきより、私はたま〜に耳にする

この言葉が気になっていました。

英語のテストで文章の最後にピリオド付けなかったらバッテン❌付けられた時代の私としては、複雑な気分😅。
最近の若者は、text に period があるのと無いのとで、違った意味合いで捉えちゃうらしい。
たまに英語人が会話の中で period を発音するみたいな感じになっちゃうんでしょうか？
例えば、"I want you to come back by 10" を ".... by 10." って書くと "I want you to come back by 10 period!" って、絶対に１０時までに帰って来なさいよ！遅れたらタダじゃ済まないわよ、みたいなニュアンスになっちゃうって事かな？）

部屋を使う時間帯が違うので、なかなか顔を合わす事のない２人は、note を交換してやり取りをする様になっていきます。
２人が flatmates になってまだ間もないある日、Leon に宛てた Tiify からの note 。
That was not the only note left for me this morning. There is the one in the bathroom door.
Hi Leon.
Would you mind putting the toilet sheet down please? I am afraid I was unable to write this note in a way that didn’t sound passive aggressive. Seriously. It’s something about the note form. You pick up the pen and post it and you immediately become a bitch. So I am just signing it out. I might put some smiley faces to really hammer things home.

赤ペン先生: Passive aggressive means indirectly aggressive like saying something mild with very critical undertone. Sounds polite but it's very critical.
For example someone is blocking your driveway and you are saying to the owner of that car 'uh... excuse me. Could you please move your car? Your car is blocking my driveway so I can't get out.' but inside your mind is 'hello? What are you doing dumb-ass? Can't you see you are blocking someone's driveway?'

更に赤ペン先生は「日本でもよくあるでしょ、会社とかで。『大変恐縮ですが…』って、ちょっと嫌味っぽい位に超〜丁寧に言いながら、本当は心の中では『ざっけんじゃね〜よ！』って。それが passive aggressive ね。」と。

でも、passive aggressive を検索すると、その意味より先に Passive aggressive behavior とか Passive aggressive personality とか出てきます。

sullenness （不機嫌、むっつりすること、ブスッとすること）
赤ペン先生が説明してくれたのは、ほんの一部みたいで、もっと色々意味があるみたいです。
