使えそうなイディオムがテンコ盛り😆‼︎な “Breaking Bad” その１

こちら💁🏻‍♀️The devil is in the details. - ペリカン英語日記でお伝えした様に、只今ドラマ "Breaking Bad" を家族で毎晩楽しんでいるところであります。

とにかく面白くて、毎晩３話は観るので、もうアッと言う間にシーズン４も半ば。

何故だかイディオムが気になって仕方がないこのドラマ。

夕べもドラマを観ながらイディオム探しも楽しんでいました。

👆これは、シーズン１の第一話の中で、初めてタイトルにもなっている

"break bad"

と言うイディオムが出て来るシーン。

Jesse: Some straight like you, giant stick up his ass all a sudden at age, what, 60, he’s just gonna break bad?

英辞郎では、米南部俗『騒動を起こす』となっていましたが、こちら👇の意味が宜しいかと思います。

ついでにこちらの意味も

一人で観た時（“Breaking Bad” を binge watching - ペリカン英語日記）も色々調べたはずなのに、まだまだ出てきます〜。

"fly off the handle"

片目に青タン（英語では "black eye" と言います。青じゃないね。）を作っていたウォルターが、「事がちょっと複雑になった。」と言った事で、妻スカイラーがウォルターの身の危険を案じ「警察に行き全てを話そう。」と言った後の会話。

Walter: You keep saying that word “danger.” I have never used that word. I said “complicated,” and then you flew off the handle.

Skyler: Yeah, I few off the handle when I saw that.

このイディオムちょっと気になったので、赤ペン先生に質問。

私: What does "fly off the handle" mean?

赤ペン先生: It means losing control or getting really mad. But "fly off the handle" is a bit old. We usually say "wow, he is losing it." or "he just lost it." instead.
私: キレる in Japanese, right?
赤ペン先生: Yeah, losing temper all of sudden. 
私: Like you!😂 

赤ペン先生: What?! What did you just say? I am not flying off the handle!! (Jokingly)😂

私: I got a new word recently and I told Jasmin that you are NOT that. What was that word...? Oh, "slow-fuse". I told her you are definitely not "slow-fuse".

赤ペン先生: "slow-fuse" is someone who is not easily upset or angered. Fuse is the thing attached to the bomb. If you have a short-fuse, you get angry so easily. I am totally slow-fuse.😂 

私: No, you are not.😂 We say the same in Japanese. 『導火線が短い』But why do you say "short-fuse" instead of "fast-fuse" opposit of "slow-fuse"? 
赤ペン先生: Don't ask me why.

"Breaking Bad" で見つけたイディオムをもっと紹介するつもりが、脱線してしまいました。

イディオム、まだまだ続きます。

👆"The devil is in the details" がまたまた登場。

お祝いだ〜！っと、高級シャンパンを買って来たウォルターに、資金洗浄を始めてんのに何やってんの？こう言う些細な事でバレちゃうんだから！と、妻スカイラーが注意をするシーン。
