何故だか最近めちゃくちゃよく耳にする単語

２ヶ月前とちょっと古いのですが、先ずはこちらの SNL の "New Normal" と言うタイトルの YouTube video をご覧下さい。

A couple, Jeannie (by Kate McKinnon) & Don (by Bill Burr) は、６ヶ月間の長い自主隔離後、久しぶりにお友達に会います。　

余りにも久しぶりで、少しギクシャク。

Friend A: It's such a weird time.
Jeannie: It really is. It's a cliche but it's unpresident.

Friend B: That's funny.

Don: What? What's funny?

Friend A: You said 'unpresidented'. That isn't a joke. We don't have a president.

Jeannie: Oh no... I just said the word.

Don: Yeah. Like they say at the beginning of every commercial, 'in these unpresidented times.'

Friend C: It's just the word you are thinking of is 'unprecedented.'

Jeannie: Unprec... Unprecedented?

Friend C: Unprecedented.

現在のアメリカ🇺🇸の状況を『unpresidented』（大統領が居ない）と皮肉ったものですが、unpresidential （大統領としてふさわしくない［の適性を欠く］）と言う形容詞はありますが、unpresidented と言う言葉は存在しません。

でも確かにそんな風に聞こえるこの言葉

なんですが、最近ほ〜んとよく耳にするんですね。

先月は、The Late Late Show with James Corden を観ている時、

Several NBA players had an unprecedented meeting with Pope Francis to discuss social justice issues.

と、ここでも出てきた。

今週の月曜日に娘が寮から帰って来たのですが、彼女のリクエストにより "Queen's Gambit" よりも先に "The Crown" season 4 を観始めたのですが、そこでも unprecedented が何度か出てきました。

２０２０年は、オーストラリア🇦🇺の森林火災から始まり、

アメリカ🇺🇸によるイラン🇮🇷司令官殺害を機に第三次世界大戦に向かうのではないかと言う不安が強まったり、トランプ弾劾裁判、香港🇭🇰での中国🇨🇳による統制強化の動きに抗議するデモ、そして COVID-19 世界🌎的大流行…などなど最悪な unprecedented events 目白押しでした。

２０２１年は、少しでも多くの幸せで、嬉しい、良い unprecedented events が起きる事を切に願っています🙏。
