英語で『通』って何て言う？

今夜の夕ご飯のメインは、鳥もも肉と木綿豆腐の創味シャンタンスープ。

お父ちゃんは「ええ〜、これがメインなの〜？☹️」と、若干ガッカリ気味😅。

お嬢さんは１人、スープにお土産で頂いたYUZUSCO （魅惑の液体ゆずこしょう『YUZUSCO（ゆずすこ）』）をピュッピュッと入れて食べているではありませんか！

母: おっ！ユズスコ入れてる。通な使い方してるね〜🙂。

娘: 『通』って何？

母: 『通』ね〜🙄。『通』って何て言うのかなぁ…。え…っと…。

父: "connoisseur ". 

母: I don't know what it means.

父: I just answered your question! (irritatingly)

母: But I don't know whatever you just said means. So how can I know the word you said is the right one?

父: 『通』 means "connoisseur". It's French. She knows what "connoisseur" means. 
娘: It means kind of expert, I guess. 
母: Expert sounds right for "通". 
娘: Why do you say "通" in Japanese?
母: I think "通" comes from  "その道に通じている" which means you know a special technique or have better knowledge than other people about things.

父: Can we use "通" for anything? "connoisseur " usually is used for art or food. 
母: I guess "通" can be used for anything... For example when you go to some sightseeing spot. Someone who knows or studied about that place goes to some special area where regular tourists usually don't know about. 

娘は日本語の『通』を学び、母（私）は英語（語源はフランス語だけど）の『通一connoisseur』を学んだ次第であります。
