shoestring

Jasmin のお友達の娘さんが12月に日本へ旅行へ行くとの事。

J: My friend’s daughter is going to Japan this December and she asked me to ask you what the temperature is like around that time.

Me: Depending on which area she is going. If she goes to up North it could be really cold.

J: I know Tokyo and Osaka. What is the name of the northern area?

Me: Hokkaido.

J: I don’t think the girl is going there. It’s a shoestring tour so I think she is going only major sightseeing spots. Do you know what shoestring mean?

Me: Nope.

J: To have a holiday on a shoestring budget is the expression. It’s doing something “on a shoestring” meaning on a budget.

J: And the name of the travel agency she uses is “shoestring”! How funny is that!😆
