1. How ignorant and arrogant Emily is.

2. The entire show is just a bunch of cliches.
3. Emily is having trouble fitting in but the French are the ones with the problem. Not obnoxious American in Paris.
4. The show describes the French as rude, lazy, sexist, horn dogs and ignorant. The show feels like weird anti-French propaganda.
5. The fact that only two characters are non-white is absolutely ridiculous when you consider how diverse Paris is.

6. The clothes are painful to look at.

Parisians React to Emily in Paris - YouTube

1. In French culture it's really rude not to say hello to someone. It's really important to say hello to greet someone.

2. In France you always have to say bonjour or hello or just some kind of greeting before any interaction ever.

3. Info about la bise (kiss). You do it cheek to cheek not kissing on cheeks. It's so creepy when Emily's boss the older guy kissed her cheeks. Don't do that!

4. The French are kind of direct but are not rude and don't insult someone's culture.

5. It's a fun light show so don't take it as a fact.

FALSE French Stereotypes and Culture Shocks! I Emily in Paris Reaction - YouTube

1. Downright exaggerated and pretty stereotypical and wrong. Obnoxiously exaggerated.
2. One thing French people are not good at is learning second languages (compare to other European countries). (They are strides ahead of the US.) If you are going to be moving to France, learn French.
3. It's pretty hard to make (especially French) friends when moving to France because French people tend to be a little bit more standoffish when you first meet them. Emily shouldn't have either expat or French friends the entire series.

4. People in Paris start to work around 9 or 9:30. Not at 10:30!

5. Smoking is illegal in closed public places.

6. The French are not prudish but they aren't psychotic.

7. The French are a little bit icy but not downright bullies. Nobody's humiliating you on a daily basis like Emily's boss and coworkers.

8. Wearing stilettos on a daily basis does not happen. Parisians don't wear stilettos. Most of them are in white flat sneakers or flat shoes.

1. The lack of French:

Going to work in a country and not even speaking a little of the language is so rude and it's really insensitive.

2. Negative stereotypes:

Everyone in Paris is rude, lazy and doesn't show up to work on time. The French are stuck in tradition and will not consider new ideas. Everyone has extra-marital affairs and everyone talks about sex all the time.

The most problematic thing about this show is that Americans are right and the French are wrong.

3. The "American Way":

Emily's/American way is right.
Emily hasn't changed throughout the whole show. The people that change are the French people because she is changing them.

4. No Metro??

5. Her Apartment:

That's not a chambre de bonne.
6. Opening Doors:

Taking pictures of people without their permission and posting it on her Instagram is not ok.

Every man that Emily meets falls head over heels in love with her.

on top of that (それに加えて、その上に)

We need to talk about EMILY IN PARIS... | Parisian chic | Justine Leconte - YouTube

1. Working in France without learning the lauguage is bold
2. It's true that Parisian snobs exist but these snobs are in every affluent capital city in the world.
3. It's true that in Paris nobody judges you for doing nothing. French people enjoy life.

Camille: She (the flower shop lady) is not nice to anyone.

Emily: You're nice and French and you speak English.

Camille: Of course I grew up on American TV!

"Because thank god for American television. Otherwise all the French would be rude and not speak English"

"Oh my god. You reserve the dates."

You all hit the nail right on the head!

hit the nail on the head - ペリカン英語日記
