Me: You know my new year's resolution is to read books. My friend lent me a book but that book was too difficult for me to understand so I gave up reading it. And finally I picked a book to read.

Jasmin: That's exciting. Which book did you pick?

Me: To Kill a Mockingbird.

Jasmin: Ohhh. You chose a classic one. And an American book. I think it's a challenge but it's not too difficult. In the UK schools used to use American novels like Steinbeck because they are not too complicated for students to understand or too difficult for teachers to teach but nowadays we use British novels at school. British books and American books are chalk and cheese! British ones are way more complicated to understand.

Me: Chalk and cheese? What does it mean?

Jasmin: Looks the same but not the same at all.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" 、
