step up to the plate

赤ペン先生"take it out on"(take it out on - ペリカン英語日記 )は、ドラマBreaking Bad から拾ったイディオムで、他にも沢山の単語をリストアップした事を話しました。

(その話題はこちら👉 “Breaking Bad” を binge watching - ペリカン英語日記

: Guess how I knew "take it out on" phrase.

I told you I rewatched "Breaking Bad" right?

I listed up words and phrases I don't know.

And there are so many useful phrases in that drama. "not out of the woods yet", "dance around", "pitch in" and "step to the plate"...

赤ペン先生: What? "step to the plate"? Which dictionary are you using? That's wrong. You should say "step up to the plate".

You should know about those phrases "pitch in" and "step up to the plate" because mom uses them all the time.

: Oh...😅 (Sorry. Sometimes I am not paying attention to what she is talking about.😅)

赤ペン先生: When she is preparing for the party, she often says "why don't you pitch in?" or "I will donate some money to this organization and if you want you can pitch in."

And the other phrase "step up to the plate"
The other day she was talking about her cousin and said "my cousin always steps up to the plate and helps other family members."
Didn't you know that?

義オカンが

"pitch in"

"step up to the plate"

をそんなに使ってたって知りませんでした😅。

(同じ話を聞き過ぎて、たまに聞いてないから、彼女の話😅。)

先にこのイディオムを知ってたら気付いてたかも〜。

今度会う時は気付くかな?
